Calgary Counsellor, Registered Nurse, and Trauma Therapist for Youth, Adults, and Families
"Every person possesses the capacity for healing and meaningful change"
Heather Karasch is a Certified Canadian Counsellor with over 15 years of experience supporting complex mental health challenges including depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, BPD, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, ADHD, parenting, and relational struggles. She holds both a Master of Nursing and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, bringing dual expertise across medical and psychological models of care.
Heather currently works as a family counsellor on Child and Adolescent mental health units for Alberta Health Services, supporting youth, families, and individuals during times of crisis and trauma. She trained at the Calgary Family Therapy Centre and has completed Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT) training and education through ATMA CENA. Heather is certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based approach that helps clients process trauma, distressing memories, anxiety, and emotional blocks in a focused and effective manner.
With a particular interest in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Heather also draws from attachment-based approaches, mindfulness practices, somatic-based therapies, CBT, and DBT as frameworks for healing, self-understanding, and emotional integration. Her therapeutic approach is compassionate, collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in the belief that every person possesses the capacity for healing and meaningful change.
Through her experience working within both medical and holistic models of care, Heather recognizes that healing often requires more than symptom management alone. She seeks to support the whole person, emotionally, mentally, relationally, and spiritually, while honoring each client's inner wisdom, strengths, and unique life experience.
